Luimoto’s Custom Services Step-by-Step

All of our custom projects follow the same basic process, whether you’re ordering custom stitching or building a bespoke seat cover from scratch. Here’s how it works:

Inquiry & Deposit


Design & Development

  • We create an initial sketch and send it to you for approval.
  • You reply with any further changes or add-ons you’d like to see. Changes can be as small and specific as you want, including:
    • Stitching
    • Patterns
    • Colours
    • Materials

Several messages may be required to ensure that the final product can be made while accurately reflecting your wants and needs.


Final Approval

  • Once you’re happy with the design, we send a final quote for your approval.
  • Upon approval, we send you:
    • An invoice
    • A sign-off form
    • A render that includes material callouts for the final approval

When you reply to the sign-off form and agree to the terms and conditions, we approve your order.


Production & Delivery

  • Your approved order is submitted to production and we start constructing the final product.
  • We ship the finished product to your delivery address.
  • Congratulations—your custom order from Luimoto is ready for your bike!

Depending on the complexity of your custom order, it can take anywhere between one week to several weeks for completion. Simple colour or material changes are quick and can usually be finished within a week, whereas a new pattern or embroidery can take two to three weeks. Please note that all order processing is paused on weekends and statutory holidays.

Installing your custom Luimoto seat cover is easy enough to do by yourself. We also offer installation services if you’d rather have our team handle it.

Do I need to send you my motorcycle seat for the custom seat cover?

No. Our team knows the specifications for the OEM motorcycle seats from all major makes and models, and we make your custom cover to match. If you have a rare or discontinued bike that we need additional information on, we’ll ask you during our correspondence. 

How many revisions can I make to my custom order during the design process?

We want to get every order absolutely right, so we don’t place limits on the feedback you can provide during design and development. Anything goes until you’ve given us your final approval and we’ve moved into production—after that, no further changes can be made.

When do I have to pay my deposit?

We strongly recommend paying the deposit for your custom order as soon as you’ve contacted us and we’ve confirmed that we can make it. This lets us know you’re serious about your design and gives us the security we need to move forward in making it come to life. If for some reason we can’t come to an agreement on your design, this deposit will be refunded.

How do I get custom embroidery on my seat cover?

Seat cover embroidery is an add-on to our custom seat cover service. Here’s how it works:

  • You describe the embroidery you want (what it looks like, where it should go, etc.) when you add embroidery to your custom service order. Alternatively, you can send us an image of what you want embroidered.
  • As part of the design and development process, our designer provides you with a sketch of how the seat cover will look when the embroidery has been placed on it.
  • Once you approve the size and placement of the embroidery, contact our embroiderer and include the additional cost with your final quote before approval.

How can I check the status of my order?

All orders are assigned an order number at the time of placement. Track the status of your order here by entering your email address and this unique number, then clicking “Find Order”.

Can I return a custom order?

All custom orders are final sales since we work with you to create a product that matches your exact specifications. We do not accept returns on these orders unless there is something wrong with the sewing or manufacturing, or if there is a production defect of some kind.

Can Luimoto install my custom seat cover for me?

Yes. We provide installation services for our seat covers and gel inserts at an additional cost. Learn more about each service on the following pages:

Can Luimoto send me fabric samples to help plan my custom project?

Yes—just visit our fabric samples page and choose up to six (6) different swatches. We’ll ship these to you on a mounted board so that you can see and feel them yourself before deciding which ones you want to use and proceeding with your order.
